About Us

Who We Are

Our Pastor is Student Minister Christvin Edbarg.
Our building is managed by The Exchange Project, a community project run by the Burnley and Pendle Methodist Circuit.

The Church Stewards will be around every Sunday morning to ensure everything runs smoothly. When you arrive at St. John's, you will be greeted by the stewards.

Our History

We strive to be a forward-thinking church, reaching out and anticipating the future needs of our community here in Colne; however we are also fond of the history associated with our church.

St. John's Methodist Church was opened in 1968, and built to seat hundreds of worshippers. The church was created from the merging of congregations from Collingwood Street, Skipton Road, and Mount Zion Methodist Churches.

The church had a thriving Sunday school. The wall between the church and the hall is able to open and close allowing the church to be opened up to hold an even bigger congregation.

The church building has extensive rooms below ground and upstairs, which make it a versatile venue for events.
On the ground floor, in addition to the church and the hall, there is a kitchen and a lounge.
In the basement, there are two big venue rooms, toilets, and a kitchen - all accessible for wheelchairs and prams.
Upstairs is the Upper Room - a quiet room for contemplation or for smaller events such as prayer meetings and breakfasts.

Running of the building itself was taken over by The Exchange Project, a project run by the Burnley and Pendle Methodist Circuit, aiming to serve local people and allowing community groups to meet together.
