Minister's Letter - June 2026

Dear friends,

I have been very aware of the work of God’s Spirit over a couple of weeks.

On the weekend of 16 and 17 May, St. Andrew’s hosted a coffee morning in aid of Christian Aid, which drew a number of people who we didn’t know, as well as our regulars; Higherford hosted their ‘Spring Brunch Bonanza’, which was an enormous success – financially and for welcoming more people who are not regulars or attenders; and Wheatley Lane on the Saturday and Sunday held a ‘Noah’s Ark Trail’ through Fence - which drew around 100 people, who then enjoyed some welcome refreshments at the chapel, having completed the trail with very excited children. Many we had not met before.

On Sunday evening, we were delighted to host at St. John’s the Circuit Pentecost worship event, which included 4 songs from Roger Jones’ musical ‘Wildfire’, sung by choirs from our own Circuit, as well as the Chorley and Leyland Circuit. The Church was not far from being full, and the presence of God’s Spirit was tangible!

All this is a poignant reminder that God is not done with us yet – as Christians and as Churches.

At present we are navigating our way through the removal of asbestos in the boiler room, and an energy audit – which will then inform us about what kind of heating system will be best in order to meet our needs in an eco-friendly way.

I’m pleased to say as well that we are now registered as an Eco Church, which we had to do in order to receive a significant grant from the District towards the energy audit. But we now have this opportunity to work towards a bronze award, and fulfil our obligations as God’s people to do our bit to ensure we honour our God-given resources.

God’s Spirit is at work in all kinds of ways. Please continue to pray for His guidance and direction as we navigate these challenging and wonderful opportunities.

And please also pray about what He may be asking of you. ‘Lord, help me to know how I can serve you in this place’.

And remember…we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us! (Philippians 4:13)

With every blessing,

Adrian
